I bought the piano new in 2005 (serial number 6126822). It is a U3S with three pedals including a sostenuto pedal.
It was tuned typically twice a year by my regular tuner, Mark Beglin. I had it refurbished in 2024 by Steve Caroll-Turner from Brighton. He did the following work (cost £1446):
• Re-weigh the keys to achieve consistent back-weight across the keyboard, matched between sharps and naturals.
• lubricate the hammer centres where necessary to remove excess friction
• change the leverage on all keys using the appropriate Optimised Balance Washers
• slightly ease the damper springs to lessen the excess resistance that they produce
• refine the regulation of the whole action, with particular focus on the set-off and checking distances.
• tune, tone and voice
The reason I am selling is that I am upgrading to a grand piano which I bought last week.
There is one small chip on the front of the piano, otherwise it is in a very good condition. Price does not include moving costs of the piano. It is on a ground floor property with ~6 steps to the front door.
