This is a magnificent Steinway & Sons Model D Concert Grand Piano, dating from 1951 and finished in a classic black satin case.
At approximately 274cm (9ft) in length, the Model D is Steinway’s flagship concert grand and has been the choice of concert halls, professional pianists and institutions around the world for generations. It has an exceptional depth of tone, powerful and resonant bass, singing treble and the enormous dynamic range expected from a full-size concert instrument.
This particular piano was reconditioned in 1985 by Steinway London and has since remained with one family owner where it has clearly been cared for.
The Model D is quite simply one of the most famous concert grand pianos ever made. Despite its considerable power, a good Model D is equally impressive at quieter dynamics, offering the control, tonal colour and sensitivity required by an accomplished pianist.
