1904 C. Bechstein Model A grand piano – 85 keys – rosewood

For sale is a beautiful “Golden Age” C. Bechstein Model A grand piano, manufactured in Berlin, Germany in 1904. 

This historic instrument spans 85 keys (7 octaves) (Ivory keys) and is encased in its original striped rosewood veneer. It is one of Bechstein’s finest early-20th-century craftsmanship.

Current Condition:

The piano is in good, playable condition and is regularly tuned. The action is responsive, and it retains the signature warm, rich, singing tone that pre-war Bechsteins are famous for. The case shows minor cosmetic wear consistent with its 120-year history but retains its beautiful rich colour.

Previous owner (my grandad) was Martin Binks, OBE, who conducted Leeds Symphony Orchestra, and has loved and used this piano in concerts for the past 50 years.
